Counter-Strike has a long and distinguished history here at ESL. It's one of the games that is always there in the big tournaments. This weekend eight teams will have the chance to play for €500 in the kickoff tournament! But that's not all. Every month we will have tournaments open to everybody with a total prize money of up to €1,000! Prepare yourself for massive Counter-Strike action!
This weekend the very first CS:GO tournament here on ESL will take place. We will invite teams from both the CS and the CS:S scene to compete for a €500 prize pot. Even tough CeBIT 2012 is very close and the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship 2012 is about to take place, we will do our best to have a lineup that will do a proper kickoff for a game like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive!

The details:
8 teams (4 CS 1.6 teams, 4 CS:S teams)
Saturday, 25th: Round of 8 matches
Sunday, 26th: Semifinals and Grand Final
Maps: de_dust, de_dust2, de_inferno, de_nuke, de_train
Prize money: €500 for the winner

UPDATE!
Due to CeBIT 2012 and the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship played there, the 1.6 scene is very much busy now. Therefor we decided to switch the tournament to Sunday only to give the participants more time to practise.

We are very sorry to cancel the tournament. Right now, it's not possible to have all players, streamers and admins on a server at a time. With the latest changes we had to face unexpectable technical problems in the beta of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. We spent the last days testing everything but with the last update from Friday problems occured never seen before. So we are left with no other option then cancel the tournament and delay it to any other time. We are very sorry for the spent time of the teams, streamers and viewers.
